After crossing Rohtang, one has to drive upto Gramphoo, where the road diverts for Keylong
and Spiti. After taking the route to Keylong, comes Sissu (43 km from Gramphoo). Sissu has presently gained importance. The
proposed tunnel on the Manali Leh Highway opens here. The starting of the tunnel is somewhere around Solang and it opens
here at Sissu. This should cut down some 80 to 100 km and also provide a respite in winter. Sissu, hence, is being developed
as a tourist village. The scenery around is nothing extraordinary. There is a waterfall on the opposite mountains. There is
a small lake as well. It is not worthwhile taking a break here. Just see the things from your moving vehicle and continue.
No need to stop.
25 km after Sissu and some 8 km before Keylong is a place called Tandi where the Chandra and Bhaga
rivers meet to form the Chandrabhaga river (also called Chenab). It is interesting to see the different colours of the two
rivers merging to form one. Hope humans understand this.
